At TheraMotive, we’re proud to share that our founder, Dr. Lola Omishore PT, DPT, OCS, ATC, a first-generation Nigerian-American and healthcare innovator, has been recognized as one of New York’s most inspiring founders in the SEEN 50 by Tech:NYC, Visible Hands, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC).
This honor highlights her leadership in transforming outdated healthcare models and creating more equitable access to physical therapy for underserved communities.
Why SEEN 50 Matters: Visibility for Diverse Founders
Although New York City is a global hub of innovation, disparities in funding for underrepresented founders remain a major issue. According to NYCEDC, in 2023, women received only 19% of venture capital funding, while Black and Latinx founders each secured less than 3%.
The SEEN 50 initiative exists to help change that. Led by Tech:NYC, Visible Hands, and NYCEDC, the program celebrates 50 startup leaders who are reshaping NYC’s tech landscape. It serves as a launchpad for visibility, connection, and investment especially for founders who are too often overlooked.
Dr. Omishore’s recognition affirms that diverse backgrounds fuel innovation, and that meaningful progress happens when new voices lead the way.
The SEEN Summit & NYC’s Inclusive Startup Ecosystem
On November 20, 2023, the SEEN Summit brought together founders, investors, and tech leaders to celebrate these changemakers and strengthen the city’s inclusive tech ecosystem.
The event also marked the one-year anniversary of the Venture Access Alliance, a coalition of over 100 venture capital firms managing more than $23.5 billion in assets all working toward equitable access to funding for diverse founders.
With support from programs like SEEN 50, the Founder Fellowship, and public-private partnerships, NYC is building a more inclusive future in health tech, physical therapy, and digital health access.
