Expanding Mobile Physical Therapy: TheraMotive Heads to Maine with New Investment

Introduction

Welcome to the next chapter of TheraMotive’s journey, transforming mobile physical therapy delivery anytime, anywhere. From our roots in bustling New York City to our planned expansion into Maine physical therapy, we’re growing with purpose. Today, we’re proud to announce our newest investor and partner: the Roux Institute at Northeastern University.

Their investment through the Future of Healthcare Founder Residency is more than capital. It’s a shared mission to make healthcare on demand accessible for everyone, regardless of zip code. So, what does this really mean in practice? Let’s dive into our vision.

From NYC to Maine — Extending Our Reach

TheraMotive began in NYC with a bold, clear mission: delivering high-quality physical therapy directly to people’s doors, especially those facing mobility challenges, lack of local clinics, or transportation barriers.

Our mobile clinics, powered by AI, VR, and wearable tech, have been effective across New York’s diverse neighborhoods serving seniors, post-op patients, and underserved communities. Now, we’re poised to bring that same tech-forward care model to Maine.

Thanks to support from the Roux Institute, we’re one of only ten startups selected for their Future of Healthcare Founder Residency, embedding us into Maine’s health innovation ecosystem and connecting us with clinical, academic, and industry leaders.

Why Maine? Meeting Seniors Where They Are

Why choose Maine? It turns out Maine has the highest percentage of residents aged 65+ in the U.S. As of 2022, 22.5% of Mainers are 65 or older, the highest share in the nation.

Yet, many rural seniors lack consistent access to rehab and physical therapy. TheraMotive’s mobile model fills that gap by bringing licensed therapists, digital diagnostics, and real-time progress tracking directly to patients.

With partners like Northern Light Health, MaineHealth, and the Roux Institute, we’re proving that zip code shouldn’t determine your care and that Maine physical therapy can be both innovative and equitable.

Backing from the Roux Institute — More Than Capital

The Future of Healthcare Founder Residency isn’t just a funding round. It's a launchpad. It provides strategic support, mentorship, and unique access to Maine’s healthcare ecosystem, including top hospital systems, venture advisors, and public health experts .

Roux’s goal to drive innovation throughout northern New England aligns perfectly with our mission to ensure healthcare on demand isn’t limited by distance. Their hands-on support helps us navigate clinical validation, regulatory compliance, and community partnerships support we couldn’t easily get alone.

Together, we’re building the foundation to scale TheraMotive’s model to more states, with the same mission: make physical therapy convenient, data-driven, and accessible for all.
